As part of my Digital Media Foundations class, I had the opportunity to recreate the Eventbrite poster for an event called Paint With Pups on Figma. I wanted this blog post to walk through my process, explain my design choices, and reflect on why I’m satisfied with the final outcome.
Choosing the Color Scheme
The original ad had a playful, inviting color palette, and I decided to draw inspiration from it. I focused on soft pastels with pops of bright, cheerful hues to capture the fun and creativity of the event. The warm yellows and lively pinks evoke excitement, while muted blues and greens provide balance and make the poster approachable. I wanted viewers to immediately feel that this was an event for all ages and for dog lovers, but also that it had a relaxed, creative vibe.

Recreating the Poster
In redesigning the Eventbrite poster, I considered both functionality and aesthetic appeal:
• Hierarchy: I made sure the event title, date, and location were easy to read at a glance.
• Visual Flow: I arranged the elements to guide the eye naturally, from the playful headline to the event details, and then the call-to-action.
• Imagery: I incorporated illustrations of pups and paint elements, keeping the energy lighthearted and fun while staying true to the event’s theme.

Designing the Case Study
I also created a mini case study to explain my choices:
1. Goal: To recreate the poster in a way that is visually appealing, informative, and true to the original spirit of the event.
2. Process: Research → Color Selection → Layout Planning → Typography → Visual Elements → Final Design
3. Outcome: A cohesive, eye-catching poster that communicates all the essential details clearly while maintaining a playful, creative energy.

Why I’m Satisfied
This project reminded me why I love graphic design—the way colors, imagery, and layout come together to tell a story. I’m proud of how I captured the event’s essence while applying principles I’ve been refining through years of practice. It’s always fulfilling to see a design that not only looks good but also serves its purpose effectively.
